Weight Gain Baby Foods (Homemade) For 6 To 24 Months Babies

1. Apple Banana Puree for 6M Babies

Ingredients:

  • Apple – 1
  • Banana – 1/2 piece

Take 1 red delicious apple. Gala apples are great too. Peel, clean, and cut the apple into sizeable pieces. Setup steaming. Use a steaming basket, if you have one. A small cup would work too. Steam the apple pieces for 7-8 minutes. After 8 minutes, check it with a fork. They should be soft with a fork. 

Take half of a banana. Peel and cut into pieces. Blend the apple and banana together in a grinder. Apple Banana Puree is ready. This is a great weight gain baby food for 6 months plus babies.

2. Potato Egg Puree

Ingredients

  • Egg   – 1
  • Potato – 1
  • Butter – 1 Tsp (optional)
  • Milk – 1/4 Cup

Hard boil 1 egg for 8-10 minutes. Peel off the shell. Break the egg and remove the white portion. Egg yolk is full of nutrition. Boil 1/2 medium potato. Peel off the skin. Mash the potato halfway. Mix the egg yolk with mashed potato. Add 1/4 cup of milk slowly. This is a baby weight-gaining food for 8 months+ babies. Give it breakfast or lunch. 

Portion size for 8 months old: ⅓ cup

2. Potato Egg Puree For 8Months+ Babies

Ingredients

  • Egg   – 1
  • Potato – 1
  • Butter – 1 Tsp (optional)
  • Milk – 1/4 Cup

Green Gram – Coconut Milk Porridge

High protein baby porridge 8 months – 3 yrs

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tsp Ghee
  • 2 Tsp Green grams
  • 1 Tbsp Rice
  • Pepper
  • Cumins
  • Garlic
  • Turmeric

Blend the grated coconut well in a grinder. Separate the coconut milk (You can use store-bought coconut milk too). Repeat the process 2/3 times more to get more coconut milk. Coconut has healthy fats. It is good for brain development. It helps with digestion. 

Soak green grams overnight or at least for 6 hrs. Soak the rice for 1 hr. Pour 1 Tsp Ghee into a pressure cooker. Put Cumins, garlic and turmeric into the hot ghee and saute for 2 minutes.

Add soaked Green grams and rice. Add pepper. Add 1 cup of water (use only the required quantity of water so that it is easy to mash). Cook for 3 whistles and simmer for 3 mins. Add 1/2 cup of coconut milk. Cook for 2 minutes on low flame while you mash it. Make it to a porridge consistency.

This is good food for your baby’s lunch or dinner. Age 8 months to 3 yrs babies/toddlers.

Sooji Potato Kheer

Ingredients

  • 1 Tsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • Sooji 2 Tbsp
  • Elaichi powder
  • Protein powder
  • Dry dates powder 

Roast sooji on low flame for 3 minutes. Keep aside and let it cool down. Pour 1 Tsp ghee (clarified butter) into the frying pan. Put ¼ cup boiled, mashed potato. Saute for a few minutes. Add roasted sooji. Slowly add 1 cup of water. Add Elaichi powder and Protein powder. Add dry dates powder as a sweetener for < 1-year babies. You can add sugar for 1+ year babies. Stir in 1/4 cup milk. 

A note about the milk

For 6 – 8 months babies make it with water (No milk). You can use coconut milk for 8 months plus babies. For 1+ year babies, use cow milk. 

This is good as evening snacks or for dinner. Very nutritious and helps with weight gain.
