How To Give Your Weakness To One Who Helps
(Last Updated On: July 1, 2021)

Everyone has weakness and strengths. Some people identify their weakness and try to improve, but others do not identify or correct their weakness. They give more preference to strengths than weaknesses. Do you give your weakness to one who helps?

Do you think it is difficult to identify your weaknesses? Weaknesses occupies more space than strengths in your thoughts unless you keep them under control. Hence weaknesses are easier to identify than your strengths.

You can work on your weaknesses. In the beginning you feel exhausted because compared to the effort expended the level of improvement can be very small.

There is a lot of merit in giving your weaknesses to those who help you grow like Rumi says.

“Cry Out in Your Weakness
A dragon was pulling a bear into its terrible mouth.
A courageous man went and rescued the bear.
There are such helpers in the world, who rush to save
anyone who cries out. Like Mercy itself,
they run toward the screaming.
And they can’t be bought off.
If you were to ask one of those, “Why did you come
so quickly?” He or she would say, “Because I heard
your helplessness.”
Where lowland is,
that’s where water goes. All medicine wants
is pain to cure.
And don’t just ask for one mercy.
Let them flood in. Let the sky open under your feet.
Take the cotton out of your ears, the cotton
of consolations, so you can hear the sphere-music. . . .
Give your weakness
to One Who Helps.
Crying out loud and weeping are great resources.
A nursing mother, all she does
is wait to hear her child.
Just a little beginning-whimper,
and she’s there.
God created the child, that is, your wanting,
so that it might cry out, so that milk might come.
Cry out! Don’t be stolid and silent
with your pain. Lament! And let the milk
of Loving flow into you.
The hard rain and wind
are ways the cloud has
to take care of us.
Be patient.
Respond to every call
that excites your spirit.
Ignore those that make you fearful
and sad, that degrade you
back toward disease and death.”

Weakness - Business Quote

The inability to work in any shade of grey. In business there are many shades of grey. How much we venture into the grey zone is dictated by our core values. Subi Nanthivarman on Linkedin Know Thyself series

Sometimes your weakness can go on autopilot and you will find it is too late to curtail them. Observing yourself in these situations and delaying response can help a lot.

Looking at my weaknesses I would categories them as follows:

Weakness that you have to address

  • Identify your weaknesses with or without external help.
  • Once identified, work on accepting them.
  • Once accepted your weaknesses, you can move forward to do improve them. Remember, if no acceptance, then no improvement.
  • Take some specific actions to improve.
  • Monitor the progress regularly and tweak where necessary.

If not vigilant, human beings are prone to relapse into wicked ways. Self observation and taking time to respond will help adhere to the straight and narrow.

It is quite normal that you are aware and proud of some weaknesses that are usually be linked to your core values or beliefs.

It is also possible that you know your weakness but you are kind of stuck with it. You don’t want to do anything about it to correct.

Some weaknesses that emerged through life experiences are buried deep within you. This can be a painful experience when you finally realise the folly of your ways.

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.

One can give good advice to others, but cannot change others. You have to change your life, none else can do that. Sometimes only life lessons and deep introspection can identify your issues and help you grow.

What are Your Weaknesses?

Let’s have a discussion

  • Do you seek the help of others pinpointing them?
  • Are you trying to to tackle them?

Final Thoughts

Never worry about your weaknesses because everyone has some weakness. Some people accept it and others don’t accept. Some are worried about weakness and try to correct it, but some people just ignore it. As Rumi said, “Give your weakness to one who helps”.
